Following on from our experience in running community boat building projects and training workshops we have decided to offer boat building courses at our yard. We will run a series of short courses. These will be aimed at small groups of between 3-6 people including boat owners who want to be able to repair or adapt there own boats, amateur boat builders, those wishing to become professionals, retierd people etc. We will hope to be able to taylor courses to the requirements of the group, with the duration being between 1 to 3 weeks. For those with very little woodworking experience there will be a basic skills course before embarking on anything more complicated.
Courses. .Basic joinery. .Boat drawings, Lofting. .Backbone construction. .Traditional clinker. .Cold moulding, strip planking. . Carvel construction. .Yacht fitting. .Classic yacht restoration. .Painting & Varnishing. . Masts, spars & oars. .Decking.
Contact us if you are interested in any of the above subjects. Once we have enough people to run any one of these we will sort out dates and times.
Costs: in the region of £450 per week plus material expences as aplicable. (to be confirmed)
We are also available for community projects.
